Sucrose synthases catalyse the synthesis of sucrose from UDP-glucose and fructose. This family includes the bulk of the sucrose synthase protein. However the carboxyl terminal region of the sucrose synthases belongs to the glycosyl transferase family Pfam:PF00534.
