Rhizobia nodulation (nod) genes control the biosynthesis of Nod factors required for infection and nodulation of their legume hosts. Nodulation protein A (NodA) is a N-acetyltransferase involved in production of Nod factors that stimulate mitosis in various plant protoplasts.
