This is a family of 1-deoxy-D-xylulose 5-phosphate reductoisomerases. This enzyme catalyses the formation of 2-C-methyl-D-erythritol 4-phosphate from 1-deoxy-D-xylulose-5-phosphate in the presence of NADPH [1]. This reaction is part of the terpenoid biosynthesis pathway.
