Tryptophan halogenase catalyses the chlorination of tryptophan to form 7-chlorotryptophan. This is the first step in the biosynthesis of pyrrolnitrin, an antibiotic with broad-spectrum anti-fungal activity. Tryptophan halogenase is NADH-dependent [1].
