Ammonia monooxygenase plays a key role in the nitrogen cycle and degrades a wide range of hydrocarbons and halogenated hydrocarbons. This family represents the AmoC subunit. It also includes the particulate methane monooxygenase subunit PmoC from methanotrophic bacteria [1,2].
