Formylglutamate amidohydrolase (FGase) catalyses the terminal reaction in the five-step pathway for histidine utilisation in Pseudomonas putida. By this action, N-formyl-L-glutamate (FG) is hydrolysed to produce L-glutamate plus formate [1].
