This family consists of several eukaryotic NICE-3 and related proteins. The gene coding for NICE-3 is part of the epidermal differentiation complex (EDC) which comprises a large number of genes that are of crucial importance for the maturation of the human epidermis [1]. The function of NICE-3 is unknown.
