Rec10 / Red1 is involved in meiotic recombination and chromosome segregation during homologous chromosome formation. This protein localises to the synaptonemal complex in S. cerevisiae and the analogous structures (linear elements) in S. pombe [1]. This family is currently only found in fungi.
