Members of this family have an important role in methanogenesis. They assume an alpha-beta globular structure consisting of six beta-strands and three alpha-helices forming the secondary structural topological arrangement of alpha1-beta1-alpha2-beta2-beta3-beta4-beta5-beta6-alpha3 [1].
