Members of this family of prokaryotic restriction endonucleases recognise the double-stranded sequence 5'-GTYRAC-3' and cleave after Y-3. They catalyse the endonucleolytic cleavage of DNA to give specific double-stranded fragments with terminal 5'-phosphates [1].
