SPRING1 is a glycosylated Golgi-resident membrane protein involved in SREBP signaling and cholesterol metabolism. It modulates the proper localisation of SCAP (SREBP cleavage-activating protein) to the endoplasmic reticulum, thereby controlling the level of functional SCAP [1].
