| PF10473 | Leucine-rich repeats of kinetochore protein Cenp-F/LEK1 | coiled_coil |
Cenp-F, a centromeric kinetochore, microtubule-binding protein consisting of two 1,600-amino acid-long coils, is essential for the full functioning of the mitotic checkpoint pathway [1,2]. There are several leucine-rich repeats along the sequence of LEK1 that are considered to be zippers, though they do not appear to be binding DNA directly in this instance [2].
1: CENP-F is a protein of the nuclear matrix that assembles onto kinetochores at late G2 and is rapidly degraded after mitosis. Liao H, Winkfein RJ, Mack G, Rattner JB, Yen TJ; J Cell Biol. 1995;130:507-518. PMID:7542657
2: LEK1 is a potential inhibitor of pocket protein-mediated cellular processes. Ashe M, Pabon-Pena L, Dees E, Price KL, Bader D; J Biol Chem. 2004;279:664-676. PMID:14555653
