Myelin protein zero is the major myelin protein in the peripheral central nervous system and is essential for normal myelination. The family is a single-pass transmembrane molecule containing one Ig-like loop in the extracellular domain and this highly basic 69 residue C-terminal cytoplasmic domain which is the region that interacts with protein p65 [2].
