Hinp1I is a type II restriction endonuclease, recognising and cleaving a palindromic tetranucleotide sequence (G/CGC) resulting in 2 nt 5' overhanging ends [1]. HINP1I has a conserved catalytic core domain containing an active site motif SDC18QXK and a DNA-binding domain [1].
