This domain is found in eukaryotes, and is about 80 amino acids in length. It is found in association with Pfam:PF02854. This domain is part of the protein eIF_4G. It binds to eIF_4E by wrapping around its N terminal to form the eIF_4F complex. This complex binds various eIF_4E-BPs (binding proteins) to regulate initiation of translation.
