This family of proteins is found in eukaryotes. Proteins in this family are typically between 571 and 1310 amino acids in length. There are two conserved sequence motifs: LPA and ELH. EVC2 is implicated in Ellis van Creveld chondrodysplastic dwarfism in humans. Mutations in this protein can give rise to this congenital condition. LIMBIN is a protein which shares around 80% sequence homology with EVC2 and it is implicated in a similar condition in bovine chondrodysplastic dwarfism.
