| PF12369 | Gonadotropin hormone receptor transmembrane region | family |
This domain family is found in eukaryotes, and is approximately 70 amino acids in length. The family is found in association with Pfam:PF00560, Pfam:PF00001. There are two completely conserved C residues that may be functionally important. This family contains the transmembrane region of Follicular stimulating hormone and leutenizing hormone - the two major gonadotropin hormone receptors. These receptors are G protein coupled receptors involved in development and maturation of germ cells in both fecund genders. The transmembrane region is conserved between the two different receptors while the extracellular ligand binding domains are less well conserved.
