This coiled-coil region is found in the central part of KASH or Klarsicht/ANC-1/Syne/homology proteins. KASH are a meiosis-specific proteins that localise at telomeres and interact with SUN1, thus being implicated in meiotic chromosome dynamics and homologue pairing [1].
