This family is found in eukaryotes. The function of this protein remains unknown. The gene which encodes for this protein is named chromosome 6 open reading frame 162 (C6orf162) and is found between the chromosomal positions 6q15-q16.1. It is thought that this protein may be an important part of membrane function.
