This family of proteins was discovered in a screen of Bos taurus placental ESTs. The B. taurus member of this family was named cattle cerebrum and skeletal muscle-specific transcript 1 [1]. This family of proteins is found in eukaryotes. Proteins in this family are typically between 97 and 157 amino acids in length. There is a single completely conserved residue D that may be functionally important. The function of this family is unknown.
