Adhesin E plays a role in pathogenesis [1]. It binds to host proteins including plasminogen, vitronectin and laminin [2]. The domain consists of a 6-stranded antiparallel beta sheet with an alpha helix at the C terminus tethered to the concave side of the sheet by a disulfide bridge [1].
