Genetic interactor of prohibitin 5 (GEP5), also known as required for respiratory growth protein5 (RRG5), has been shown to interact with prohibitin ring complexes in the mitochondrial inner membrane that regulate cell proliferation as well as the dynamics and function of mitochondria [1]. It is required for mitochondrial genome maintenance and is essential for respiratory growth [2].
