This N-terminal region is found in SMYLE (for short myomegalin-like EB1 binding protein). It does not include the SMYLE homology (SmyH) domain found in the first 100 residues at the N terminus. The conserved SmyH domain is required and sufficient for PKA scaffolding protein AKAP9, and the pericentrosomal protein CDK5RAP2 binding [1].
