Comments
Part of the heterohexameric Mcm2-7 complex, Mcm3 contains a CRM1-dependent NES between amino acids 834-842. The Mcm2-7 complex accumulates in the nucleus in the G1 phase, and is exported in late G1 when Cdc28 kinase becomes active. The Mcm3 NES is sufficient to export the entire complex, and Mcm3 serves as a subtrate of Cdc28 Kinase. NLS in Mcm2 and Mcm3 allow the two proteins to form a cell cycle-regulated transport module that is regulated by phosphorylation of CDK consensus sites.

User Input
Accurate identification of NESs is difficult because many sequences in the genome match the NES consensus. Therefore, some published NESs may be mistakenly identified. Please help us improve the accuracy of NESdb by providing either a positive or negative flag for the NES in this entry. Supporting comments are required to process the flag.
