Comments
ZAP is an antiviral protein which specifically eliminates the viral mRNA in the cytoplasm. In the N-terminus of ZAP, there are four CCCH-type zinc finger motifs, which has been shown to bind to the AU-rich element in mRNAs in similar systems. ZAP was shown to shuttle between the cytoplasm and the nucleus with the help of two NLSs and one NES. The putative NES is located between 284-291.

User Input
Accurate identification of NESs is difficult because many sequences in the genome match the NES consensus. Therefore, some published NESs may be mistakenly identified. Please help us improve the accuracy of NESdb by providing either a positive or negative flag for the NES in this entry. Supporting comments are required to process the flag.
