Comments
Capsid protein is one of the six spliced products of structural protein of VEEV. 30-68 of VEEV capsid protein (H68) inhibits normal cellular import. The author proposed that H68 has a supraNES, that can bind CRM1 even in the absence of RanGTP. The correct spacing between the NES and the NLS enables the formation of a tetrameric complex of H68, CRM1, Impα/β. This complex blocks the NPC which results in the blocking of cellular import. The binding to CRM1 was shown by surface resonance spectroscopy.

User Input
Accurate identification of NESs is difficult because many sequences in the genome match the NES consensus. Therefore, some published NESs may be mistakenly identified. Please help us improve the accuracy of NESdb by providing either a positive or negative flag for the NES in this entry. Supporting comments are required to process the flag.
