Comments
p28GANK is an anti-apoptotic oncoprotein overexpressed in hepatocellular carcinomas and involved in the degradation of p53 and Rb. The protein binds directly to NF-κB/RelA and exports RelA resulting in the cytoplasmic retention of NF-κB/RelA. p28GANK's multiple NES reinforces its ability to prevent nuclear translocation of NF-κB/RelA. p28GANK is a protein other than the known IKβ family molecules that associate with NF-κB and regulate its cytoplasmic
retention under basal conditions.

Accurate identification of NESs is difficult because many sequences in the genome match the NES consensus.
Therefore, some published NESs may be mistakenly identified. Please help us improve the accuracy of NESdb
by providing either a positive or negative flag for the NES in this entry. Supporting comments are required to process the flag.
