Comments
A regulator of cell-cycle progression and apoptosis, Aven overexpression is associated with several childhood leukemias. Aven is an activator and substrate of ATM and modulates DNA-damage response as well as G2/M cell cycle progression. Mutations of critical residues resulted in significant nuclear accumulation as well as inhibited mitotic entry in cycling Xenopus laevis egg extracts. Although an NES was not experimentally proven to be sufficient, amino acids 282-292 are listed to fall under consensus patterns.

User Input
Accurate identification of NESs is difficult because many sequences in the genome match the NES consensus. Therefore, some published NESs may be mistakenly identified. Please help us improve the accuracy of NESdb by providing either a positive or negative flag for the NES in this entry. Supporting comments are required to process the flag.
