VDUP1 is a tumor and metastasis suppressor that complexes with pVHL and allows the pHVL/HIF1α complex to be exported in a CRM1-dependent manner. The nuclear export sequence is purported to be between amino acids 290-296. VDUP1 decreases HIF1α stability and can inhibit HIf1α functions upon export.
