Hsp105α and Hsp105β are mammalian stress proteins. They function as a substitute for Hsp70 family proteins to suppress the aggregation of denatured proteins caused by heat shock. Hsp105β is an isoform of Hsp105α shorter by 44 amino acids. Hsp105α is located in the cytoplasm, whereas Hsp105β is in the nucleus. Hsp105α was shown to have both NLS and NES. The same sequences are conserved in Hsp105β. The spliced out sequence is located adjacent to NLS, which may suppress the NLS activity of Hsp105α.
