Comments
Selenoproteins contains the nonstandard amino acid selenocysteine (Sec) and function in both the antioxidant defense system and thyroid hormone metabolism. SBP2 is one of the oldest and best-characterized factor involved in the incorporation Sec. It binds to the Sec insertion sequences elements in the 3' untranslated region of selenoprotein mRNA. Oxidantive stress specifically induce nuclear accumulation of SBP2.

User Input
Accurate identification of NESs is difficult because many sequences in the genome match the NES consensus. Therefore, some published NESs may be mistakenly identified. Please help us improve the accuracy of NESdb by providing either a positive or negative flag for the NES in this entry. Supporting comments are required to process the flag.
