Comments
UL94 is a viral protein detected in the late stage of human cytomegalovirus infection. UL94 has been shown to interact with pp28, an essential tegument protein required for assembly. Liu et al. showed that UL94 is a shuttling protein with two NLSs and one NES. In addition, they found that L343 (outside of proposed NLSs) is important for nuclear localization and interaction with pp28. Interestingly, UL(1-133) localizes to the nucleus while UL(1-166) is cytoplasmic. They postulated that amino acid between 134-166 regulate either NLS or NES activity.

User Input
Accurate identification of NESs is difficult because many sequences in the genome match the NES consensus. Therefore, some published NESs may be mistakenly identified. Please help us improve the accuracy of NESdb by providing either a positive or negative flag for the NES in this entry. Supporting comments are required to process the flag.
