Comments
Like PAK4, PAK5 is a member of the group II p21-activated protein kinase. PAK5 induces resistance to apoptosis by phosphorylating BAD and PAK5 localizes to the mitochondria. Cotteret et al. found that PAK5 has two mitochondria localization targeting sequence as well as NES and NLS. PAK5 must reside in the mitochondria to exert its antiapoptotic power. Note that the NESs in PAK4 and the NES in PAK5 don't align.

User Input
Accurate identification of NESs is difficult because many sequences in the genome match the NES consensus. Therefore, some published NESs may be mistakenly identified. Please help us improve the accuracy of NESdb by providing either a positive or negative flag for the NES in this entry. Supporting comments are required to process the flag.
