Comments
ADD1 is an actin-binding protein that has roles in the stabilization of the membrane cytoskeleton and cell-cell junctions. Chen et al. found that ADD1 shuttles in the cell through the action of a bipartite NLS and a NES. The putative NES is found in the neck domain of ADD1. Other family members ADD2 and ADD3 were found to have modest sensitivity to LMB with no leucine-rich NES identifiable. Their nuclear export may be mediated by both CRM1 and other exportins such as Exportin-5.

User Input
Accurate identification of NESs is difficult because many sequences in the genome match the NES consensus. Therefore, some published NESs may be mistakenly identified. Please help us improve the accuracy of NESdb by providing either a positive or negative flag for the NES in this entry. Supporting comments are required to process the flag.
