Comments
TAZ and its paralog YAP are transcriptional co-activators of the Hippo signaling pathway. Kofler et al. identified a NLS which is regulated by RhoA and an NES within TEAD-binding domain (TBD) which can be masked by TEAD. RhoA and TEAD have roles in TAZ's nuclear and cytoplasmic retention respectively. NES is mapped to residue 2-40 while the TEAD binding motif spans 25-53. Nuclear export activity of the TBD is also confirmed by rapamycin-inducible sequestration in the cytoplasm (RISC) system. This putative NES is different from the NES region identified in YAP1 in entry #320.

User Input
Accurate identification of NESs is difficult because many sequences in the genome match the NES consensus. Therefore, some published NESs may be mistakenly identified. Please help us improve the accuracy of NESdb by providing either a positive or negative flag for the NES in this entry. Supporting comments are required to process the flag.
