UBXN2A is an activator of the p53 tumor suppressor protein. It is normally localized to the nucleus, but exposure to UV B radiation or the genotoxic agent Etoposide causes nuclear exit. LMB can cause accumulation of this protein in the nucleus under Etoposide induction, demonstrating CRM1 dependence of UBXN2A's nuclear exit upon DNA damage. Putative NES was identified in 224-233, however it is within the UBX domain and have not been further validated.

Accurate identification of NESs is difficult because many sequences in the genome match the NES consensus.
Therefore, some published NESs may be mistakenly identified. Please help us improve the accuracy of NESdb
by providing either a positive or negative flag for the NES in this entry. Supporting comments are required to process the flag.
