Arp2/3-1b protein is identified in proteomics study by Kirli et al. as a CRM1 binder. It is a component of the Arp2/3 complex which is responsible for regulation of actin polymerization. Export activity is verified as GFP- and GFP-NLS-fusions in an LMB-sensitive manner. Purified protein can bind to mouse CRM1 in RanGTP-dependent manner. Putative NES is identified in the C-terminal tail and tested to be active in GFP-NLS-NES fusion. Structure of xenopus Arp2/3-1b is not available but the NES can be seen in the structure of Bos Taurus Arp2/3 complex as a helix-loop extension which packs against the WD repeat domain.
