Comments
Xenopus UPF2 is identified in proteomics study by Kirli et al. as a CRM1 binder. UPF2 is an RNA-binding protein involved in the nonsense-mediated decay of mRNAs. Export activity is verified as GFP- and GFP-NLS-fusions in an LMB-sensitive manner. Putative NES is identified and tested to be active in GFP-NLS-NES fusion. NES sequence is predicted to be in disordered region. The NES is within second MIF4G domain in the human homolog which is not resolved in the crystal structure of the domain. User Input
Accurate identification of NESs is difficult because many sequences in the genome match the NES consensus. Therefore, some published NESs may be mistakenly identified. Please help us improve the accuracy of NESdb by providing either a positive or negative flag for the NES in this entry. Supporting comments are required to process the flag.
