Comments
pUL46, also known as non-essential phosphoproteins VP11/12 is one of the major tegument proteins of the alphaherpesvirus. Xu et al. reported that UL46 is found in both nucleus and cytosol and contains an NLS and an NES. Localization of pUL46-EGFP is LMB sensitive. They also reported that an NES may be found in the N-terminal 48 residues, but mutation to leucines did not abolish export activity. NetNES prediction shows that residues around 22 and 73-83 could be putative NESs but they were not further experimentally verified. User Input
Accurate identification of NESs is difficult because many sequences in the genome match the NES consensus. Therefore, some published NESs may be mistakenly identified. Please help us improve the accuracy of NESdb by providing either a positive or negative flag for the NES in this entry. Supporting comments are required to process the flag.
