WDR20 is a WD repeat containing protein that functions to regulate deubiquitinases. Olazabal-Herrero et al. reported that WDR20 regulates the cellular localization of USP12 and their cellular localization is LMB sensitive. Deletion analysis on a disordered region (394-509) of WDR20 led to identification of a putative NES in 450-468, predicted by Wregex. This peptide is active in Rev(1.4)-GFP nuclear export assay. Mutations to the NES in full length YFP-WDR20 increased nuclear accumulation, as well as the complex of YFP-USP12(with artificial NLS)/UAF1-mRFP/myc-WDR2.
