Comments
FAK is a signaling scaffold protein critical for transduction of signals from supramolecular complexes with extracellular matrix. FAK is found in both the cytoplasm and the nucleus. NLSs have been located in the FERM region of FAK. Two putative NESs were identified. Both are likely required to keep FAK in the cytoplasm. However, the NES located within residues 510-530 are stronger, more conserved, and more accessible.

User Input
Accurate identification of NESs is difficult because many sequences in the genome match the NES consensus. Therefore, some published NESs may be mistakenly identified. Please help us improve the accuracy of NESdb by providing either a positive or negative flag for the NES in this entry. Supporting comments are required to process the flag.
