Some of these domains bind zinc, but many do not; instead binding other metals such as iron, or no metal at all. For example, some family members form salt bridges to stabilise the finger-like folds. This entry represents a family of proteins which appears to have a highly conserved zinc finger domain at the C-terminal end, described as -C-X2-CH-X3-H-X5-C-X2-C-. The structure is predicted to contain a coiled coil. Members of this family are annotated as being tumour-associated antigen HCA127 in humans, but this could not be confirmed.
