Vacuolar protein sorting-associated protein (Vps)5 is a yeast protein that is a subunit of a large multimeric complex, termed the retromer complex, involved in retrograde transport of proteins from endosomes to the trans-Golgi network. Sorting nexin (SNX) 1 and SNX2 are its mammalian orthologs []. To carry out its biological functions, Vps5 forms the retromer complex with at least four other proteins: Vps17, Vps26, Vps29, and Vps35 [].
