>gnl|CDD|215646 pfam00001, 7tm_1, 7 transmembrane receptor (rhodopsin family).
This family contains, amongst other G-protein-coupled
receptors (GCPRs), members of the opsin family, which
have been considered to be typical members of the
rhodopsin superfamily. They share several motifs, mainly
the seven transmembrane helices, GCPRs of the rhodopsin
superfamily. All opsins bind a chromophore, such as
11-cis-retinal. The function of most opsins other than
the photoisomerases is split into two steps: light
absorption and G-protein activation. Photoisomerases, on
the other hand, are not coupled to G-proteins - they are
thought to generate and supply the chromophore that is
used by visual opsins.

>gnl|CDD|130673 TIGR01612, 235kDa-fam, reticulocyte binding/rhoptry protein. This
model represents a group of paralogous families in
plasmodium species alternately annotated as reticulocyte
binding protein, 235-kDa family protein and rhoptry
protein. Rhoptry protein is localized on the cell surface
and is extremely large (although apparently lacking in
repeat structure) and is important for the process of
invasion of the RBCs by the parasite. These proteins are
found in P. falciparum, P. vivax and P. yoelii.

IIABC component. This model represents a family of PTS
enzyme II proteins in which all three domains are found
in the same polypeptide chain and which appear to have a
broad specificity for beta-glucosides including salicin
(beta-D-glucose-1-salicylate) and arbutin
(Hydroquinone-O-beta-D-glucopyranoside). These are
distinct from the closely related sucrose-specific and
trehalose-specific PTS transporters.

>gnl|CDD|188086 TIGR00819, ydaH, p-Aminobenzoyl-glutamate transporter family. The
p-Aminobenzoyl-glutamate transporter family includes two
transporters, the AbgT (YdaH) protein of E. coli and
MtrF of Neisseria gonorrhoea. AbgT is apparently cryptic
in wild type cells, but when expressed on a high copy
number plasmid, or when expressed at higher levels due
to mutation, it allows utilization of
p-aminobenzoyl-glutamate as a source of p-aminobenzoate
for p-aminobenzoate auxotrophs. p-Aminobenzoate is a
constituent of and a precursor for the biosynthesis of
folic acid [Hypothetical proteins, Conserved].

>gnl|CDD|238179 cd00290, cytochrome_b_C, Cytochrome b(C-terminus)/b6/petD:
Cytochrome b is a subunit of cytochrome bc1, an
11-subunit mitochondrial respiratory enzyme. Cytochrome
b spans the mitochondrial membrane with 8 transmembrane
helices (A-H) in eukaryotes. In plants and
cyanobacteria, cytochrome b6 is analogous to eukaryote
cytochrome b, containing two chains: helices A-D are
encoded by the petB gene and helices E-H are encoded by
the petD gene in these organisms. Cytochrome b/b6
contains two bound hemes and two ubiquinol/ubiquinone
binding sites. The C-terminal domain is involved in
forming the ubiquinol/ubiquinone binding sites, but not
the heme binding sites. The N-terminal portion of
cytochrome b, which contains both heme binding sites,
is described in a separate CD.

>gnl|CDD|132283 TIGR03239, GarL, 2-dehydro-3-deoxyglucarate aldolase. In E. coli
this enzyme (GarL) 2-dehydro-3-deoxyglucarate aldolase
acts in the catabolism of several sugars including
D-galactarate, D-glucarate and L-idarate. In fact,
5-dehydro-4-deoxy-D-glucarate aldolase is a synonym for
this enzyme as it is unclear in the literature whether
the enzyme acts on only one of these or, as seems
likely, has no preference. (Despite the apparent large
difference in substrate stucture indicated by their
names, 2-DH-3DO- and 5-DH-4DO-glucarate differ only by
the chirality of most central hydroxyl-bearing carbon
and is alternately named 2-DH-3DO-galactarate.) The
reported product of D-galactarate dehydratase
(4.2.1.42) is the 5DH-4DO-glucarate isomer and this
enzyme is found proximal to the aldolase in many
genomes (GenProp0714) where no epimerase is known.
Similarly, the product of D-glucarate dehydratase
(4.2.1.40) is again the 5-DH-4DO isomer, so the
provenance of the 2-DH-3DO-glucarate isomer for which
this enzyme is named is unclear.
