GLMS catalyzes the formation of glucosamine 6-phosphate from fructose 6-phosphate and glutamine in amino sugar synthesis. GPATase catalyzes the first step in purine biosynthesis, an amide transfer from glutamine to PRPP, resulting in phosphoribosylamine, pyrophosphate and glutamate.
