Proteins belonging to this subgroup include CP-like protein X1 (CPX1), CP-like protein X2 (CPX2), and aortic CP-like protein (ACLP) and its isoform adipocyte enhancer binding protein-1 (AEBP1). AEBP1 is a truncated form of ACLP, which may arise from alternative splicing of the gene. These proteins are inactive towards standard CP substrates because they lack one or more critical active site and substrate-binding residues that are necessary for activity.
