RPSBLAST alignment for GI: 254780321 and conserved domain: cd03699

>gnl|CDD|58090 cd03699, lepA_II, lepA_II: This subfamily represents the domain II of LepA, a GTP-binding protein localized in the cytoplasmic membrane. The N-terminal domain of LepA shares regions of homology to translation factors. In terms of interaction with the ribosome, EF-G, EF-Tu and IF2 have all been demonstrated to interact at overlapping sites on the ribosome. Chemical protection studies demonstrate that they all include the universally conserved alpha-sarcin loop as part of their binding site. These data indicate that LepA may bind to this location on the ribosome as well. LepA has never been observed in archaea, and eukaryl LepA is organellar. LepA is therefore a true bacterial GTPase, found only in the bacterial lineage.. Length = 86
