GlpC lasks classical hydrophobic transmembrane helices; Cole, et al suggest interaction with the membrane may involve amphipathic helices. GlcC has conserved Cys-containing motifs suggestive of iron-sulfur binding. This complex is found mostly in Escherichia coli and closely related species.
